Packing. The horror of the thought.

Packing may be the most challenging part of this exchange process so far. I cannot seem to figure out how to pack for a whole year and for climate that I have never experienced. And did I mention, one suitcase? Well actually, my mother has been SO kind to allow me to pack an extra smaller checked bag. The space honestly isn’t the issue, it’s the weight. 23 kg, 50 lb, one year. Help me. Well to be honest, I have gotten a lot done. Lots of shopping has filled the last two weeks of my life. My mother’s as well. She has been such an awesome person to put up with my lack of a memory for things when we are at the right place. I have been to South Park mall in these past two weeks more than I have in my whole life.

I have 16 days until I fly out, on August 4th, for DC, then two days later, on the 6th, flying out to Frankfurt to begin my crazy adventure. I will leave around 3:30 p.m. on the 6th from DC and arrive around 5:30 a.m in Germany! From there it’s off to Schloss Wittgenstein for a three week language and cultural immersion camp with the other CBYX-CIEEers. Then on the 27th, my host mother and sister, Franzi, will come to pick me up, and I will be off to live with the Thater family.

I absolutely cannot wait.
